UCSF Reaffirmation of Accreditation by WASC

Welcome

Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann

September 13, 2010

Welcome to the UCSF Reaccreditation Website. Here you can learn about UCSF's plans and progress toward achieving reaccreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), our regional accreditation agency

Accreditation indicates that UCSF meets rigorous standards of quality, capacity, and effectiveness. In addition, the steps toward accreditation provide an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments, challenges, and future plans. Only accredited institutions can administer federal financial aid.

UCSF is currently accredited by WASC through 2010. Under the new WASC standards, the reaccreditation process at UCSF will consist of a three-year review (2007-2010) with both self- and external assessments conducted by two visiting teams.

Please review this site to learn more about our plans for WASC reaccreditation. We will update the site as information becomes available. The reports posted have been prepared by the WASC Accreditation Steering Committee, which includes faculty, students, and staff as well as administrators and incorporates input from the entire campus community. I encourage all members of the campus community to engage in discussions regarding the process and meetings with the visiting teams.

We appreciate your participation in this important quality-assurance and self-improvement process.

Susan Desmond-Hellmann, M.D., M.P.H.
Chancellor
